Tunga Mahavidyalaya stands at the foothills of Anandagiri in Thirthahalli, one of the oldest private aided colleges in the Malnad region of Shivamogga district. Established in 1967 by Tunga Vidyavardhaka Sangha, an association of local philanthropists, the college was founded to bring higher education within reach of students across the taluk, regardless of background.
Thirthahalli has long produced writers, artists, jurists and public figures, and the college was built to serve that tradition. Today it offers undergraduate programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Applications, along with postgraduate study in Commerce, taught on a green campus with laboratories, a library, hostel facilities and sports grounds.
The college is NAAC accredited and has completed three cycles of accreditation since 2005.
Four undergraduate degrees across Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Applications. Students build a foundation in their chosen discipline through classroom teaching, laboratory work and field exposure, with fifteen departments supporting the programmes.
M.Com. deepens the commerce foundation into specialised expertise, preparing students for professional practice, competitive examinations and further academic work under faculty with subject specialisation.
