As such, the department of Economics meets Arts, IBCOM & IBBM students our college.
The history of the department dates back to 1967-68 when the college was started. Mr. Nagaraj and Mr. Babu Singh were the lecturers in the department up to the year 1970. On resignation of Mr. Babu Singh in 1970, Mr. V.R.Hegde was appointed in his place. The credit of developing the department should go to these two persons. On account of increase in workload , Mr. H.R.Krishnaiah Gowda was appointed as lecturer in 1980 who joined the Government Service (Leave the college March 1986). Later on Mr Nagaraj joined another college in 1986 as principal. On account of vacancy so created by Mr. B.T. Ramappa, present HOD, and Mr. M.S.Manjunatha were appointed. Still some excess of workload was left over. Thanks to Tunga Vidyavardhaka Sangha for arranging full time and part time teachers whenever vacancy arose. Kum. Ranjitha also worked as part time lecture. Government has deputed Mr. G.Suresh to fill up one full-time vacancy in the department. Later prof.
