Library

The Tunga Mahavidyalaya College Library has a rich history of serving the academic community. Established in 1967, it moved to its own independent building in 1998. The library is spread over two floors, with the ground floor covering an area of 70×50 meters and the first floor covering 80×60 meters. The Browsing and Reading Room, with a seating capacity of one hundred, is located on the first floor, while a separate reference section is provided for students and teachers. This section offers access to books, journals, magazines, Wi-Fi, Internet access, electrical plug-in facilities, and computers.

The ground floor of the library houses the circulation counter, along with periodicals, reference books, textbooks, and language sections. The building also includes an office, a Librarian room, and a computer lab. The library is well equipped with sufficient lighting and hygienic, well-ventilated spaces that allow natural light and fresh air to circulate freely.

Books are the cornerstone of education, and the library is the heart of intellectual life. The Tunga Mahavidyalaya College takes great pride in building a comprehensive library with modern facilities that cater to the academic needs of students and the teaching community. The library has a vast collection of books, CD/DVDs, and the latest periodicals, with access to online resources through the Digital Library. At present, the library has 52,900 volumes of books, 87 back volumes of periodicals, and subscribes to newspapers, journals, magazines, and periodicals covering all disciplines and branches, including computer science. The library collection covers a broad range of subjects, including Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Computer Science, General knowledge, Competitive Examinations, and more.

The library uses the E-Lib Library automation software package for its operations and resource sharing. The software provides an efficient way to manage the library’s resources, automate its functions, and offer services such as online cataloging, circulation, and acquisitions. With the help of this software, the library staff can easily manage and maintain the collection, keep track of borrowing and returning of books, and streamline the circulation process.
