The Department of Sanskrit at Tunga Mahavidyalaya was formally established in 1979 with the appointment of Prof. B. C. Ramesh. For much of its history, the department has functioned with a single faculty member. Currently, Ms. Swathishree serves as the lecturer in Sanskrit. Sanskrit has a rich tradition of literature, grammar, philosophy, and knowledge. Its study helps students explore India’s literary and cultural heritage and understand its connections with other Indian languages. The department encourages students to develop language proficiency, appreciate classical texts, and reflect on their relevance to contemporary life.
