The Election Literacy Club works to build electoral awareness among students and prepare them to participate in the democratic process as informed voters. Its work is carried out under the Election Commission of India's Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation programme, in coordination with the district and taluk election offices.
The club conducts voter registration drives for students who have turned eighteen, observes National Voters' Day each January, and prepares teams for the taluk and district level competitions held around it. Through quizzes, debates, reels-making and mock elections, students learn how the electoral system works and why participation in it matters.
Taluk level competitions were held at Government First Grade College, Thirthahalli as part of the National Voters' Day observance for 2024-25. Students of Tunga Mahavidyalaya took part in the reels-making and quiz events.
District level competitions were held at Government First Grade College, Bapuji Nagar, Shivamogga. The college team advanced from the taluk round and competed against entries from across Shivamogga district.
The Heritage Club of Tunga Mahavidyalaya is an educational and cultural organisation that aims to develop awareness, interest, and a sense of responsibility among students towards the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of India and Karnataka.
The club provides students with opportunities to learn history practically rather than limiting it to classroom lessons. It encourages experiential learning through visits to historical sites, museum studies, documentation of heritage, lectures, and cultural programmes.
The Department of History and Heritage Forum organized an educational heritage tour on 23 September 2026 for 40 B.A. students. The team visited the Amulya Archaeological Museum near Lakkinakoppa, Shivamogga, where students learned about ancient civilizations, historical currencies, Malnad heritage artifacts, and culturally significant historical objects.
The students then visited the historic Shivappa Nayaka Palace and Museum in Shivamogga. Heritage guide Mr. Ram Prakash provided valuable insights into the palace's architecture, memorial stones, and the rich history of Shivappa Nayaka. The tour also included visits to the historic Kote Anjaneya Temple and Sri Rama Temple.
On the occasion, Mr. Vinod Prakash, Assistant Professor of History, Government First Grade College, Bapujinagar, Shivamogga, inaugurated the History Association and highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage. The programme was attended by Mrs. Chaithra T., Head of the Department of English, Mr. Mohan Kumar B.C., Head of the Department of History, and Mr. Sudheep D., who extended their full support in making the tour successful.

Through debates, poetry recitals and creative writing workshops, the association encourages students to explore literature and share their thoughts freely, building an environment where reading and writing are genuinely celebrated.

Rainbow is the Department of English's language club, inaugurated on 29 September 2025 under the guidance of the IQAC to give students — particularly first-year UG learners — a platform to improve their communication skills, build confidence in using English, and engage with language and literature beyond the classroom. The club runs quizzes, debates, vocabulary games and public speaking sessions through the academic year, alongside a wall magazine that showcases students' own creative writing.
The club was formally inaugurated in the college Seminar Hall by opening the wall magazine Rainbow. Dr. M. K. Veena, retired Principal of Sahyadri Commerce & Management College, Shivamogga, delivered the inaugural address and encouraged students to take part in the club's language and literary activities. Dr. R. Kumaraswamy, Principal, Tunga Mahavidyalaya, presided over the programme. Shri M. N. Ramesh (President, TVS), Dr. B. Ganapati (Secretary, TVS), Shri Nataraj L. K. (Retired Principal), Shri Mohan Kumar B. C. (IQAC Coordinator), along with faculty and students, were present. Around 45 students attended.
A debate was held in the Seminar Hall for I BCA and B.Sc. students on "Traditional Women versus Modern Women," encouraging critical thinking and effective communication among participants.
A quiz competition was organised for II B.Com. and BCA students to build general knowledge and language competency.
The club's closing ceremony was held to mark the end of the year's activities. Certificates and books were awarded to students for active participation and outstanding performance across the year's events.
The Science Club encourages scientific thinking and curiosity among students. It creates awareness of scientific issues related to society, the environment, personal well-being, and technology, while developing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and confidence.
The club conducts regular discussions on recent scientific developments and discoveries. Students participate in poster presentations, seminars, guest lectures, quizzes, science exhibitions, awareness programmes for school students, and educational field visits.
The Information Technology Club promotes technical learning, digital skills, and practical exposure among students. During the academic year 2025–26, the club organised activities focused on digital skills, career readiness, emerging technologies, and experiential learning.
The IT Club, Placement Cell, and Commerce Club, in association with IBM SkillsBuild and Magic Bus India Foundation, organised a four-day Digital Skill Development Programme in the Seminar Hall, covering career readiness, resume building, interview preparation, Artificial Intelligence fundamentals, website development using Wix Studio, and prompt engineering. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, students developed digital literacy, communication skills, AI awareness, and career-related skills. The programme concluded with a certificate distribution and feedback session.
The IT Club organised an educational tour to Kerala to give students practical exposure and learning experiences beyond the classroom. Students visited destinations including the Golden Temple, Nisargadama, Abbey Falls, Panthom Rocks, Edakkal Caves, Soochipara Waterfalls, Banasura Dam, the Tea Museum and Tea Estate, Lakkidi View Point, and a chocolate factory. The tour offered opportunities to explore the region's natural environment and cultural heritage while encouraging teamwork, leadership, environmental awareness, and interpersonal skills.
The Commerce Club of Tunga Mahavidyalaya provides students with opportunities to connect classroom learning with practical experiences in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Business Management.
Through business quizzes, case studies, competitions, workshops, expert talks, industrial visits, financial-literacy programmes, entrepreneurship activities and career-oriented initiatives, the Club encourages students to explore different areas of commerce and develop practical knowledge.
To develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork and decision-making skills while encouraging students to build an entrepreneurial and professional mindset.
The Commerce Club believes that education extends beyond textbooks. It creates opportunities where students can turn knowledge into practical skills, develop their ideas and prepare themselves for professional and entrepreneurial roles.
A four-day IBM SkillsBuild Training Programme was conducted for undergraduate students to strengthen employability skills and introduce basic concepts in emerging technologies. The sessions were led by Mr Manikandan, Mr John Kennedy and Mr Sethupathi.
Students were introduced to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, with examples of their applications across industries. The programme placed particular emphasis on communication and career readiness, covering personality development, confidence building, professional etiquette, self-introduction and responses to common interview questions.
Group discussions, role-plays, presentations and practical activities encouraged active participation and helped students practise speaking and interpersonal skills.
Outcome: The programme improved students’ awareness of emerging technologies and strengthened their communication, confidence, interview preparation and employability skills.
The Financial Literacy Programme introduced undergraduate students to financial planning, investment, insurance, financial security and wealth management.
Ms Samyama M., III B.Com, welcomed the gathering. Dr Prashanth, Head of the Department of Commerce and Placement Officer, introduced the programme and explained the importance of informed financial decision-making. Mr Anoop Gowda, Founder and CEO of Finn Mantra, inaugurated the programme and emphasised the value of beginning financial planning at an early age.
Mr Avinash D’Souza, Cluster Head, HDFC Mutual Fund, Bengaluru, and Mr Kiran Singh, Cluster Head, TATA AIA, Bengaluru, shared practical guidance on investment options, mutual funds, insurance and personal financial management.

Outcome: Students gained practical knowledge of personal finance, investment and insurance, and developed an understanding of the importance of informed financial decisions.
A one-day programme was organised for final-year B.Com students to strengthen personal, professional and academic skills. Interactive sessions and activities focused on leadership, teamwork, communication, collaboration, confidence and problem-solving.
A dedicated coaching session supported students preparing for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET). It introduced the examination pattern, preparation strategies and methods for improving performance in competitive examinations.
Outcome: Students developed greater awareness of collaborative and leadership skills and received focused guidance for PGCET preparation, higher education and future careers.
Alumni Meet 2026 brought former students together to reconnect with the institution, strengthen alumni relations and share their experiences with faculty members and present students.
Alumni from different batches revisited their college experiences and shared their academic and professional journeys. Interactive sessions and informal activities provided opportunities for networking and renewed connections with their alma mater.
Outcome: The meet strengthened the relationship between the institution and its alumni and gave present students practical academic and career insights from former students.
The Graduation Day and Farewell Programme for outgoing undergraduate students celebrated their academic achievements and marked the completion of their college journey.
Dr B. N. Tamboli, physician and Chairman of Radha Krishna Trust, Shivamogga, inaugurated the programme. Sri M. N. Ramesh, President of Tunga Vidyavardhaka Sangha, and Sri Nandish Murali, Secretary, presided over the event.

The Nisarga Sangha is the college's Nature Club, providing students with opportunities to learn about the environment and biodiversity. The club promotes ecological awareness and encourages students to take an active role in protecting and conserving our natural heritage.
Through nature walks, plantation drives, sustainability workshops, field visits, and eco-projects, the club connects classroom learning with practical environmental experiences. It also promotes sustainable practices such as waste management, water conservation, and reducing plastic use on campus.
To develop environmentally conscious students who respect and care for nature and take responsibility for building a greener and more sustainable future.

The Nisarga Sangha organised a one-day field visit and study camp at Kudlu Thirtha Forest, Hebri, Udupi district, to enhance students' environmental awareness, understanding of biodiversity conservation, and knowledge of local flora and medicinal plants.
A state-level one-day workshop on "Domestic Biodiversity of the Western Ghats" was organised by the Nature Club, the Biodiversity Board, and associated organisations, with academic presentations on local biodiversity, conservation, and ecological preservation.
