The Election Literacy Club works to build electoral awareness among students and prepare them to participate in the democratic process as informed voters. Its work is carried out under the Election Commission of India's Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation programme, in coordination with the district and taluk election offices.
The club conducts voter registration drives for students who have turned eighteen, observes National Voters' Day each January, and prepares teams for the taluk and district level competitions held around it. Through quizzes, debates, reels-making and mock elections, students learn how the electoral system works and why participation in it matters.
Taluk level competitions were held at Government First Grade College, Thirthahalli as part of the National Voters' Day observance for 2024-25. Students of Tunga Mahavidyalaya took part in the reels-making and quiz events.
District level competitions were held at Government First Grade College, Bapuji Nagar, Shivamogga. The college team advanced from the taluk round and competed against entries from across Shivamogga district.
The Heritage Club of Tunga Mahavidyalaya is an educational and cultural organisation that aims to develop awareness, interest, and a sense of responsibility among students towards the historical, cultural, and natural heritage of India and Karnataka.
The club provides students with opportunities to learn history practically rather than limiting it to classroom lessons. It encourages experiential learning through visits to historical sites, museum studies, documentation of heritage, lectures, and cultural programmes.
The Sahithya Sanga is a creative hub where imagination meets expression, offering a platform for students to nurture their linguistic and artistic talents across languages and genres. Through debates, poetry recitals and creative writing workshops, the association encourages students to explore literature and share their thoughts freely, building an environment where reading and writing are genuinely celebrated.

To give students diverse opportunities to build communication skills and literary appreciation, introducing them to classical and contemporary writers, and through competitions and interactive sessions, to build confidence and intellectual growth among members.

Rainbow is the Department of English's language club, inaugurated on 29 September 2025 under the guidance of the IQAC to give students — particularly first-year UG learners — a platform to improve their communication skills, build confidence in using English, and engage with language and literature beyond the classroom. The club runs quizzes, debates, vocabulary games and public speaking sessions through the academic year, alongside a wall magazine that showcases students' own creative writing.
The club was formally inaugurated in the college Seminar Hall by opening the wall magazine Rainbow. Dr. M. K. Veena, retired Principal of Sahyadri Commerce & Management College, Shivamogga, delivered the inaugural address and encouraged students to take part in the club's language and literary activities. Dr. R. Kumaraswamy, Principal, Tunga Mahavidyalaya, presided over the programme. Shri M. N. Ramesh (President, TVS), Dr. B. Ganapati (Secretary, TVS), Shri Nataraj L. K. (Retired Principal), Shri Mohan Kumar B. C. (IQAC Coordinator), along with faculty and students, were present. Around 45 students attended.
A debate was held in the Seminar Hall for I BCA and B.Sc. students on "Traditional Women versus Modern Women," encouraging critical thinking and effective communication among participants.
A quiz competition was organised for II B.Com. and BCA students to build general knowledge and language competency.
The club's closing ceremony was held to mark the end of the year's activities. Certificates and books were awarded to students for active participation and outstanding performance across the year's events.
The Science Club encourages scientific thinking and curiosity among students. It creates awareness of scientific issues related to society, the environment, personal well-being, and technology, while developing critical thinking, creativity, communication, and confidence.
The club conducts regular discussions on recent scientific developments and discoveries. Students participate in poster presentations, seminars, guest lectures, quizzes, science exhibitions, awareness programmes for school students, and educational field visits.
The Information Technology Club promotes technical learning, digital skills, and practical exposure among students. During the academic year 2025-26, the club organised activities focused on digital skills, career readiness, emerging technologies, and experiential learning.
The IT Club, Placement Cell, and Commerce Club, in association with IBM SkillsBuild and Magic Bus India Foundation, organised a four-day Digital Skill Development Programme in the Seminar Hall, covering career readiness, resume building, interview preparation, Artificial Intelligence fundamentals, website development using Wix Studio, and prompt engineering. Through interactive sessions and practical activities, students developed digital literacy, communication skills, AI awareness, and career-related skills. The programme concluded with a certificate distribution and feedback session.
The IT Club organised an educational tour to Kerala to give students practical exposure and learning experiences beyond the classroom. Students visited destinations including the Golden Temple, Nisargadama, Abbey Falls, Panthom Rocks, Edakkal Caves, Soochipara Waterfalls, Banasura Dam, the Tea Museum and Tea Estate, Lakkidi View Point, and a chocolate factory. The tour offered opportunities to explore the region's natural environment and cultural heritage while encouraging teamwork, leadership, environmental awareness, and interpersonal skills.
The Commerce Club of Tunga Mahavidyalaya provides students with opportunities to connect classroom learning with practical experiences in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Banking, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Business Management.
Through business quizzes, case studies, competitions, workshops, expert talks, industrial visits, financial-literacy programmes, entrepreneurship activities and career-oriented initiatives, the Club encourages students to explore different areas of commerce and develop practical knowledge.
To develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork and decision-making skills while encouraging students to build an entrepreneurial and professional mindset.
The Commerce Club believes that education extends beyond textbooks. It creates opportunities where students can turn knowledge into practical skills, develop their ideas and prepare themselves for professional and entrepreneurial roles.
The Nisarga Sangha is the college's Nature Club, providing students with opportunities to learn about the environment and biodiversity. The club promotes ecological awareness and encourages students to take an active role in protecting and conserving our natural heritage.
Through nature walks, plantation drives, sustainability workshops, field visits, and eco-projects, the club connects classroom learning with practical environmental experiences. It also promotes sustainable practices such as waste management, water conservation, and reducing plastic use on campus.

The Nisarga Sangha organised a one-day field visit and study camp at Kudlu Thirtha Forest, Hebri, Udupi district, to enhance students' environmental awareness, understanding of biodiversity conservation, and knowledge of local flora and medicinal plants.
A state-level one-day workshop on "Domestic Biodiversity of the Western Ghats" was organised by the Nature Club, the Biodiversity Board, and associated organisations, with academic presentations on local biodiversity, conservation, and ecological preservation.
