Department Goals

• To organize special lectures on current issues
• To conduct one day workshop on Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s writings.
• Field visit to THALUK Panchayath, town Municipality.
• Academic trip to vidhana sawdha and Gandhi Bhavana, Bengalore.
• To conduct a case study of SC’S and ST’s political participation in the Grama panchayath election.
• To organize the awareness programme on Human Rights with the collaboration of non-governmental organizations.

About the Department:
The Political Science was started under the headship of Prof. Seetharama Rao in 1967. He served in the department for 3 years and resigned as he was absorbed into some other college. Later he was succeeded by Prof. Narasimhachar who served for 33 years and retired in 2000. Prof. K.C Thimmappa Gowda was appointed lecturer in year          and succeeded as the head of the department. Who served for ………. Years and retired in 2013. Presently Sri. Dr. R Kumara Swamy is heading the department Assisted by one Guest lecturer.  Subject studied in combination with History and Economics (HEP).

The programs conducted by the Department :

• Human Rights club formed in the Department.
• Human Rights awareness programs in rural areas.
• Arrangement of public speech on Human Rights and legal literacy.
• Conducted bridge courses for newly admitted B.A. I Sem students.
• Student seminars are conducted regularly.
• Remedial classes are conducted for needy students.
• Enrichment classes are conducted for meritorious students.
