The Department of Computer Applications at Tunga Mahavidyalaya was established in 2023 with the introduction of the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme. It aims to make quality computer education accessible to students, particularly those from rural areas, while encouraging professional ethics and responsible use of technology. The programme develops students’ knowledge of programming, software development, databases and computer networks. Classroom learning is supported by practical work that helps students apply concepts, identify problems and develop working solutions.
Computer laboratories and software tools support students in building technical skills through practice. The department also encourages teamwork, communication and independent learning so that students can adapt to changing technologies.
Through its emphasis on practical learning and ethical values, the department prepares students for further studies, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in computing and related fields.
To empower students, particularly those from rural areas, through accessible computer education that develops technical competence, innovation and ethical values, enabling them to contribute to their communities and the wider technology sector.
The BCA programme develops programming, analytical and practical computing skills. Students can explore careers across software, digital services and IT support, with projects, internships and additional training helping them prepare for specific roles.
Higher Studies: MCA, M.Sc. in Computer Science or related disciplines, MBA, and postgraduate programmes in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity, subject to programme eligibility.
