The Department of Environmental Science at Tunga Mahavidyalaya was established in 2009. Prof. Jayaprakash P. headed the department in its early years, and Prof. Nagabhushan R. K. took up the role in 2013.
Environmental Science helps students understand the relationship between people and the natural world. It examines challenges such as deforestation, land degradation, pollution and the loss of natural resources, along with ways to address them.
The department aims to develop environmental awareness, scientific understanding and a sense of responsibility towards nature. Students are encouraged to consider how individual actions and collective efforts can contribute to conservation and a healthier environment for future generations.
To develop environmentally aware and responsible individuals who understand ecological challenges and contribute to the conservation of natural resources.
