On 15 August 2026 Tunga Mahavidyalaya marked the 80th Independence Day celebration on the college campus. NCC cadets led the chief guests to the dais in a ceremonial parade. Principal Dr. R. Kumaraswamy hoisted the national flag, after which floral tributes were offered at the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
Delivering the flag message, the Principal observed that while the country won political freedom decades ago, social and economic freedom remain to be achieved by today’s young people. Strengthening democracy, he said, is essential to that work.
The President and Secretary of the management, senior directors, alumni, and staff and students of both Tunga Mahavidyalaya and Tunga Pre-University Residential College attended the programme.
